The security guard who is accused of killing lecturer Bashir Ahmad at Islamia College Peshawar was arrested by Peshawar police on Tuesday.
Sher Muhammad, the accused, was taken into custody in the Karak district and taken to Peshawar. The accused was detained by a Peshawar police team.
During a verbal argument with a watchman, Bashir, a senior English department teacher at Islamia College University, was shot and killed.
According to police, Professor Bashir Muhammad, a Mardan resident who was attending Islamia Collegiate School at the time, had a verbal argument with the school watchman a day ago, but the matter was resolved later. They got into another fight on Sunday.
During the altercation, Professor Bashir pulled out a gun, and guard Sher Muhammad fired an AK-47 at him.
A police official stated, "He was left seriously injured and rushed to the nearby KTH where he succumbed to his injuries," adding that the accused escaped after the crime.
After receiving a complaint from the deceased's brother, police filed an FIR and began an investigation.
